Saimin, an elderly man from Indramayu, West Java, was filled with a mix of emotion and pride as he witnessed the lowering of the national flag, the Sang Saka Merah Putih, at Merdeka Palace during Indonesia’s 80th Independence Day commemoration. This year, Saimin decided to watch the ceremony in person at the palace instead of from the comfort of his home where he usually watches it on TV. He expressed his joy at being able to witness the event firsthand and described President Prabowo Subianto as a leader who is close to the people, down to earth, and caring for those in need. Saimin commended Prabowo’s hard work, highlighting his dedication in visiting communities across the country, especially those affected by disasters.
With a hopeful tone, Saimin also emphasized the importance of unity among Indonesians on this Independence Day. He called for maturity and solidarity among the citizens of the Republic of Indonesia, urging everyone to put an end to internal conflicts and divisions. Grateful for the opportunity to be invited to the palace by President Prabowo, Saimin expressed his appreciation for the gesture. This experience left a lasting impression on him, reinforcing his pride in his country and its leadership.
