Prabowo Subianto, President of Indonesia, recently appointed General Tandyo Budi as Deputy Commander of the Indonesian National Armed Forces (TNI). In addition, he appointed six new Regional Military Command (Kodam) commanders, 20 brigade commanders, and 100 Territorial Development Battalions. During the ceremony, Prabowo awarded the Bintang Sakti Medal of Honor to soldiers who demonstrated outstanding integrity.
In his address, Prabowo emphasized the importance of leaders leading from the front and serving as the first line of protection for their soldiers in dangerous situations. He stressed that commanders, from brigade commanders to battalion commanders, must set an example by leading from within their troops and being present in critical and dangerous situations.
Prabowo rejected the notion of commanders staying behind the lines, stating that leaders must lead from the front and be the best soldiers. He encouraged military leaders to care for and train their troops as their own children, nurturing and training them well without resorting to cruelty.
The President concluded his remarks by reminding military leaders of the TNI’s identity and mission as the people’s army, born from and serving the people. He emphasized the TNI’s commitment to defending the people and being prepared to make sacrifices for the people.
