The President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, emphasized the importance of maintaining a strong defense amidst a volatile global environment. Speaking at the Operational Troop Review and Military Honors Ceremony, Prabowo urged young soldiers to remember Indonesia’s history, particularly its struggle against colonial rule. He emphasized the necessity of a robust army for national freedom and security, highlighting the growing complexity of global challenges and threats to Indonesia’s progress.
Prabowo underscored the need to safeguard Indonesia’s territory, sovereignty, and resources in the face of external disruptions. He pointed out the uncertainty in the world today, citing ongoing conflicts and atrocities in different regions. Despite Indonesia’s non-alignment with any geopolitical bloc, Prabowo stressed the imperative of a strong defense to protect the nation’s interests.
During the ceremony, Prabowo appointed new regional military commanders and brigade commanders to reinforce Indonesia’s defense capabilities. He also honored several individuals for their dedication and integrity, bestowing prestigious ranks and medals. The event marked the inauguration of various new TNI units, including Army, Naval, and Air Force regional commands, as well as Territorial Development Battalions and Special Forces Command Groups.
The troop review showcased over 27,000 personnel and an array of tactical vehicles and defense assets from the Army, Navy, and Air Force. Prabowo’s speech and the ceremony highlighted the importance of a strong defense to protect Indonesia’s sovereignty and ensure its prosperity in an increasingly uncertain world.
