President Prabowo Subianto’s commitment to advancing the role of Indonesian scientists on the global stage was highlighted by Deputy for Dissemination and Media Affairs at the Presidential Communication Office (PCO), Noudhy Valdryno, in Jakarta on August 7, 2025. The President envisions greater collaboration between Indonesian researchers and international scientists to illuminate Indonesia’s path toward becoming a developed nation.
Encouraging scientists to be more present in the public sphere, President Prabowo emphasized their strategic importance in achieving the administration’s target of 8 percent economic growth over the next five years. Scientists are expected to drive national industrialization through downstream development, technological mastery, and human capital enhancement, aligning with the Asta Cita’s fourth pillar.
In support of scientific advancement, the Ministry of Higher Education, Science, and Technology (Kemdiktisaintek) hosted the 2025 Indonesian Science, Technology, and Industry Convention (KSTI) from August 7 to 9 at Sasana Budaya Ganesa (Sabuga), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), West Java. The convention was praised by the PCO as a vital platform to convene the nation’s top scientific minds.
Minister of Higher Education, Science, and Technology, Brian Yuliarto, highlighted the importance of KSTI 2025, bringing together researchers and leading academics, especially in STEM fields, to advance the nation. With the theme “Science and Technology for Economic Growth and Equity,” KSTI 2025 aims to accelerate Indonesia’s transformation into a high-value-added industrial economy by fostering collaboration among academia, industry, government, media, and civil society.
The event attracted over 2,000 scientists from across the country, showcasing the strategic importance of KSTI in driving scientific and technological advancement for economic growth and equity.
