Upon his arrival, President Prabowo was warmly welcomed by the relatives and family of the late Kwik Kian Gie before making his way to pay his respects to the deceased. Kwik Kian Gie, known for his advocacy of Pancasila-based economics, passed away at the age of 90 on Monday evening. President Prabowo expressed his deep respect for Kwik, whom he considered not only an economist but also a friend and mentor who provided valuable insights into the nation’s development. Reflecting on their personal connection, Prabowo shared that Kwik had been a constant source of advice and thoughtful perspectives over the years. Despite his failing health, Kwik remained actively engaged, even sending messages and recommendations to the President shortly before his passing. President Prabowo acknowledged Kwik’s significant contributions to the country and mourned the loss of one of Indonesia’s finest sons.
