National Nutrition Agency (BGN) has temporarily suspended the operations of its Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) after discovering substandard food within the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program. Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to the BGN, stated that the affected SPPG units will remain closed until the investigation is complete and MBG food samples are fully tested in the laboratory. BGN is working with independent institutions, local health, and education departments to investigate the cause of the incident and monitor the health of affected students. The agency has expressed deep apologies to the students, parents, schools, and all parties impacted by this discovery, emphasizing zero tolerance for negligence in meal procurement and distribution. Ensuring the health and safety of MBG recipients is the top priority for BGN, with corrective measures underway including stricter partner screening, improved hygiene standards, supply chain enhancements, and the development of Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) based on expert recommendations. BGN is actively collaborating with local government authorities to ensure swift and effective response on the ground, with a commitment to meeting all food safety standards and delivering the intended benefits of the MBG Program without compromising health. The incident will serve as a learning opportunity for future improvements, and with the support of stakeholders, BGN believes the program can continue to effectively serve the people.
