President of Indonesia Prabowo Subianto recently attended the funeral of the late Major General (Ret.) Eddie Marzuki Nalapraya, a revered figure in Indonesian pencak silat, at the Pencak Silat Training Center in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah (TMII), East Jakarta. President Prabowo arrived at the venue in a brown safari suit and black peci cap to pay his respects to Eddie’s family, salute his casket, and offer his condolences. During the ceremony, Prabowo lauded Eddie Nalapraya for his immense contributions to pencak silat as a national independence fighter and former IPSI Chairman, underscoring the role of this martial art in shaping national character. Recognizing Eddie’s unwavering dedication, Prabowo commended his efforts in promoting pencak silat both within the country and on the international stage. In honor of his lifetime achievements, the late Eddie Nalapraya was posthumously awarded the prestigious Bintang Mahaputera. President Prabowo concluded his remarks with prayers for Eddie Nalapraya’s eternal peace and bid a heartfelt farewell to the esteemed figure, acknowledging his profound impact on Indonesian pencak silat.
