Jakarta – Prime Minister Australia Anthony Albanese has congratulated presidential candidate number 2 Prabowo Subianto who is leading in the 2024 presidential election based on the preliminary results.
He revealed this in his post on Albanese’s personal account @AlboMP, Tuesday (15/2).
“I feel honored to be the first foreign leader to speak with @prabowo today, who clearly leads in official and unofficial calculations, about the ambition for the future of Australia-Indonesia relations,” he wrote.
“As fellow democracies and close friends, Australia extends its congratulations to Indonesia for successfully holding the presidential election on February 14,” he continued.
Albanese hopes to soon establish bilateral cooperation with Indonesia, which will be led by the new president when inaugurated in October 2024.
“I hope to work with the new President of Indonesia after the inauguration in October 2024,” he said.
Based on the latest data from the General Election Commission (KPU) at 17:28 WIB on the pemilu2024.kpu.go.id page, the Prabowo-Gibran pair is in the top position with a 56.32% gain from the progress of 43.93% of votes entered.
As for the results of quick counts from several survey institutions, Prabowo-Gibran leads by almost 60%. According to the calculation from Populi Center with 99.72% of data entered, Prabowo-Gibran leads with 59.13%. Meanwhile, Poltracking with 95.9% of data entered, Prabowo-Gibran leads with 59.34%.
